Looks what he's been up to

 At first he would just lay around and sleep. But lately he has turned into a  very "At home" kitty..
Turns out he loves to shred toilet paper while we sleep... He will keep at it until the whole roll is in a shredded up ball on the floor.

On the homeschool front, we are now on lesson 18. And they still seem to be having fun! Yay! His penmanship is getting great, and little miss is really starting to get into the flow of things. She is learning to write all of her ABC's which I think is a fun thing to teach. One thing they both love is our little health class we have going. We do puppet shows, cut, glue..all the fun things :)

And last but not least....Someone turned four this week!!!! Our beautiful little girl. She was born exactly one month to the day after my brother was killed in an accident. She is our little Ray of sunshine :)

And now they are done!

Yesterday we completed our fingerprints. We went to the local DHHR office and only had to wait a few minutes to go back. Once we got back there it was a different story. The fingerprint scanner wouldn't work, and we ended up being in the office for about an hour while they tried to fix it. I was worried we would have to make another appointment and that Hubby would have to take off another day of work. But thankfully they got it working and now this step is done!!

We have a finger print appointment!!

So heres the big news!!

This Wednesday we are getting fingerprinted!

Woohooo we are one step closer! !!!

• On any given day in North America, nearly 550,000 children are in the foster care system, and more then 150,000 of them are available for adoption, just waiting for the right family to find them.
• There are 463,000 in the U.S. foster care system; 123,000 of these children are available for adoption. Their birth parent's legal rights have been permanently terminated and children are left without a family.
• More children become available for adoption each year than are adopted. In 2008, 75,000 children had parental rights terminated by the courts, yet only 55,000 were adopted.
• Children often wait five years or more to be adopted, move three or more times in foster care and are often separated from siblings. The average age of waiting children is eight years old.
• Each year, one in five children (29,516 in 2008) who are available for adoption turn 18 and leave the foster care system without a family.
• Adopting from foster care is affordable. Most child welfare agencies cover the costs of home studies and court fees, and provide post-adoption subsides. Thousands of employers offer financial reimbursement and paid leave for employees who adopt and Federal and/or state adoption tax credits are available to most families
• Each child is adoptable. many children in foster care have special needs. All of them deserve the chance to grow up in a safe, loving, permanent home. Support and other post-adoption resources are available.

Week 2

Well we survived the first week and are now in the second week of homeschool.

I love that my kids get hands on learning at home..

I'm glad that they get to discover the world around them...

And of course I love that we get to spend cool fall mornings learning together.

My First Earthquake

So yesterday we had an earthquake!! Sad part..I was outside and did not really feel it. I was putting the kids in the car to go to the dollar store. And I just felt dizzy. When I got to the dollar store everyone was talking about how there had just been an earthquake! I tried calling my family and the phones weren't working. I did finally get a hold of my sister and she said they had been sitting in the living room when the whole house started shaking. My husband was outside at work and didn't feel it, but my dad was standing by his dump truck and the whole thing started shaking..It was nuts. Facebook was going crazy :) and the news was talking about it. Although they seem to be focusing on DC..not the place where there's more damage..I know that there are some people living in emergency housing, houses were damaged and some high rise apartments have been condemmed and everyone forced to leave, so keep them in your prayers.
 So glad it wasn't any worse and that everyone is OK.
