Trick or treat and ladybugs

What a week last week was. We got that exciting call, but after that it was sick kids, lots of whining and our little miss had an accident Friday which resulted in a knocked out tooth. :( After that week we decided to forget about a busy Saturday and just ended up taking the kids to a local trick or treat event then home to relax. I did get to take a some cute pictures of their outfits. Aren't they cute?

This week has seemed to get off to a better start. They are feeling much better thank God!

Our home has been invaded with ladybugs. So right now the kids are running around collecting them and telling me to take pictures.

And yes there are so many of them that you can collect them by the handful!

Thankful that even in the crazy weeks God is faithful and showers us with His blessings.

Call #1 Some news!

It happened! We got a call from our adoption agency that wasn't asking for more paperwork, or informing us of an upcoming class. No, this one to actually talk to us about a child. Before you get to excited I have to say that it didn't end up going through. We were never placed with the child, but I wanted to share anyways because it's actually the beginning of something pretty exciting.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11

A few days ago I was busy cooking dinner for our pastor and his family ( something our church did for pastor appreciation month). While I was in the middle of layering the lasagna my phone started to ring. It wasn't a number I recognized so I was about to let it go to voicemail when I decided to go ahead and answer it. I'm glad I did because it was our social worker calling from the on call phone. When she said who she was I seriously just thought Oh they must need something else. Or maybe they had called confirming that they got the most recent thing they needed. But no I was completely shocked when she said that she was calling about a three month old baby!!! Here's the thing though. We were signed up for adoption only. The only calls we should have gotten were for children ready to be adopted or ones that had a low risk of going back to their homes. But this baby would have been a temporary foster situation. Something we hadn't told them we would do, yet. The weekend before, Hubby and I were discussing doing this as we wait for our adoption placement. That maybe God was wanting us to be a foster family as well, and Hubby had told me to go ahead and call them the day that they ended up calling me!

Long story short. The baby stayed at her/his home. But it just felt like a confirmation that we should do this. I was feeling a little nervous about calling them to tell them we were interested in foster care as well. I was thinking that I wasn't sure how I would feel about getting a call about a child that we would know we couldn't keep. But!!! When we got that call, even though I knew it would only be for a short time, I was sooo excited!! All the things I thought I would worry about I didn't I was just plain excited! And actually a little disappointed the next day when we got the call saying it wasn't happening,

Point of this story.

We are now an in the process of adoption, foster/respite home!

Adopting from foster care is a long hard journey. But I know that He is the one in charge. And He is the one who will help us through all the situations that may come up, such as giving a child back. So we look forward to a child being placed in our home either to stay or for a little while...

Whats going on...

That's probably what you wondering about us. I have horribly neglected this blog since school started up. Pretty much what we have been up to is, schoolwork, church, more training classes for the adoption and spending the early fall days together as a family. We took a parenting class every Thursday in September to start working on our required in service training hours. Between that church and family activities I have not had time to blog in the evenings! The kids are enjoying school so far this year. Alex is still so in love with science and farming. They are both about to join 4h! Im sure that it will be lots of fun! We have also been looking at a small farm nearby that we would love to buy and are praying about. As for the adoption, no news yet! We recently sent our family profile to the adoption agency for birthmothers to look at. But other then that we have just been waiting and believing that God knows when!

Already?

I cannot believe how fast the summer went by! The kids got up and got their schookwork done and now I am spending some time decorating for fall!! Crazy! I even decided to burn a Christmas candle just because I love the holiday scents so much. I know, I know, its a little early. But if you could smell my house right now you would agree it was a good idea. So besides the seasons flying by what have we been up to? Well we are also still waiting for the call from our adoption agency. We are attending a series of parenting classes once a week this month. We are getting into the new school year and every day I am loving our new curriculum choices more and more! We also have a birthday party coming up next week for Rory. She will be six!! Time flies.

Back to School

Today was back to school here at our house. The kids decided to sleep in for the first time since summer break started. But I managed to get them up and school started by 8:30. My goal is to start them by 8 each morning but we will see about that one. Today was our first day using Switched on Schoolhouse and I gotta say, I love it. It took some time today to try and get in the flow of things but I'm sure it will all come together. Excited to see how this new school year goes!
