My First Earthquake
So yesterday we had an earthquake!! Sad part..I was outside and did not really feel it. I was putting the kids in the car to go to the dollar store. And I just felt dizzy. When I got to the dollar store everyone was talking about how there had just been an earthquake! I tried calling my family and the phones weren't working. I did finally get a hold of my sister and she said they had been sitting in the living room when the whole house started shaking. My husband was outside at work and didn't feel it, but my dad was standing by his dump truck and the whole thing started shaking..It was nuts. Facebook was going crazy :) and the news was talking about it. Although they seem to be focusing on DC..not the place where there's more damage..I know that there are some people living in emergency housing, houses were damaged and some high rise apartments have been condemmed and everyone forced to leave, so keep them in your prayers.
So glad it wasn't any worse and that everyone is OK.

First Day
Well it's that time of year again!
Yesterday we started school here. He is doing great. The first day he was trying to come up with all these excuses as to why he had to take a break. His hand was tired, his throat was sore, he had a bad (fake) cough...But then he realized how much fun it really is! Today went great.
And little miss is having fun doing all kinds of little projects. Just trying to keep her busy and learning. Next year we will start her in Kindergarten.
Looking forward to an awesome school year!

Why we homeschool
I strongly believe that what we put into our kids minds now, will
greatly affect what they do and say later. And honestly there is not
much in the public school system that I want put into my kids. If the
God they serve is not allowed to be prayed to, worshiped, talked about
and read about there, then I don't want my kids there. It's as simple as
that, The bible says that we as parents are to train up our children in
the way they should go. I want them to go in HIS way. So I am staying
home and making sure that everything they learn has the truth of God
behind it. They could go to school and learn science and be lied to
during their whole education, told that it was a big bang that formed
the universe, or I can teach them the truth. They could go to school and
learn the language and attitude of those around them. Or I can be their
example. Some say that this isn't good for the children, that thy are
being sheltered. That they can't be a witness. Yes I am
sheltering them, but it's good for them. You wouldn't send your six year
old into the army would you? You wouldn't send your twenty year old strait
out to the battlefield unless he has had some form of training first. So
why do you expect me to send my children out into this spiritual
battlefield?? Shouldn't I train them for battle first?
BUT if I do train them up, if they do prepare for battle. One day they will be equipped to go out and really make a difference in this world.
Psalm 127

5 | Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:

School days are coming!
I cannot believe how fast summer has flown by!!
And it's making me excited. Excited for fall...excited for new possibilities, new learning. And excited to start PRIDE training!
The nights are getting cooler. A relief after all this heat.
It's almost time to begin our second year of homeschooling. A little boy will be going to first grade!

This morning the kids decided to pick me a bouquet of the tall flowing grass behind our house..perfect bouquet for the table of a mama ready for fall!

We are adopting!
EVERY CHILD DESERVES A LOVING HOME
So this is the big news!
With much prayer we have decided that we are going to try and adopt from foster care, through the foster adopt program...
We understand that there is legal risk, and we may not get to adopt the first child placed with us.
But we are just going to put it in HIS hands and see where this goes! There are so many children all over the world who need someone to love them, we want to change that for at least one. We are sooo excited, and also a little nervous. We have called the DHHR and have our package, and we will be starting PRIDE classes in September. After these classes, and we understand all the process, we will then get a homestudy done.
We will be updating this blog often on the journey, and would love you to follow.
This is a BIG decision, and we would love any advise/encouragement from anyone who knows the process!
Including any advice on how you shared the news with your family :)
