Obedience

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather then men. As a christian one of the most important things we can do is obey God.
“Obedience is the outward expression of your love of God.” ~Henry Blackaby.

Ever since our church did this program called "forty days of fire" (which focused on sacrificing some thing so we could pray more and get our focus on Him) my husband and I have really felt God showing us over and over again that we should adopt. Now of course we are still going to continue to pray about it and just trust His leading..but it seems like his leading is to adoption. At first we researched domestic. But don't feel like that is what we want at all. We have really felt the call to reach to those in an orphanage internationally. Now there's no wrong way to adopt but this is the way we feel is best for us. We have done a whole lot of research and found an agency that would accept us to adopt at our young age of 23 almost 24:) And that the country we would be eligible for is Ethiopia. It is one of the largest orphan populations in the world. An African nation of 75 million. With an estimate of 4.3 million orphans! This is definately someplace where God can use us! We meet every requirement and are very excited that this may be where God is leading us.

A few points...
Yes we know it wont be easy!
Yeah we know we are capable of making our own..but there are children out there without families! Why not reach out like God did for us?
Yep we aren't going to look alike, and we think that's a beautiful picture of Gods family!
We know it's a lot of money...BUT we have a God and he can do all things!

Adoption is a beautiful gift from God but yes the downfall for most people is the amount of money this takes. That was our main thing we were first thinking was how can we afford this? But if there's one thing I know about God is that if He wants you to do something He will provide. It's going to take us getting another vehicle that will seat three kids first and then the money for the adoption itself. But we know God can provide. We have found out about the tax credit ,grants, interest free adoption loans, fundraisers..and of course saving. So as an act of obedience to God we are starting with another simple step...a coin jar. Yes we are aware this isn't going to cover it all.. But hey every little thing counts. And the kids love putting their money in the can:) By the way for a very long time every night Alexander prays for a baby. He will even sometimes stop when he's playing and say "Dear Jesus please give us another baby like Rora". We didn't tell him to do this, its just his heart. Maybe God planted this in Him before us. So here's our first little savings towards this future baby from Ethiopia. 1 Timothy 4:12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
