Children..

"I really am your gift. I am not just a little person who needs to be "raised" and taught, and taken to activities....I came to the people in my life to bring a message: slow down. Feel. Be. Over and over again. When you do, you will notice immediately, that I am not an obstacle to your work, or inconvenience to your daily life. Instead, you will come to appreciate my honesty, humor, presence and love." Bruce Scott
So I saw this on a friends FB status and just had to re-post!  Hope everyone is staying cool!! Right now we are under an excesssive heat warning. Current heat index of 111!!

Distracted

Sometimes I worry.

I worry that we are raising a generation of children that don't really know how to have a relationship with God.

Sure they go to church on Sunday and pray over their meals, but do they know that He needs to be our everything?

I think that as parents we are getting distracted. I was watching a show on tv not long ago. And a comment made by the mother really helped me see this.
She was in the process of writing a book, and this mother has 19 kids, you probably know the show I'm referring to now, anyways, she was asked if she could get much work done on her book with all the distractions. She then said that she did not see her children as the distraction, that they were her job and that really it was writing the book that was the distraction.

How many times do we focus on cleaning the house, working on a project, even getting on blogger, and our kids get the backseat. We tell them to go play or maybe watch a movie.
I'm guilty of it! But most importantly what about when it comes to helping our children grow spiritually. Do we take the time to really do our job? If we had to choose between working on a memory verse with our kids or cleaning that bedroom before company comes, which would we choose?

Proverbs 22:6 says..Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

We need to teach our kids to pray, to worship,
We need to take the time to teach them God's word, help them hide it in their little hearts. Because one day they are going to be out there in this big, hard world. And what we did to train them when they were young is what they will remember.

I know that it's hard to find time to juggle all we have to do as mothers and have the time to stop and teach our kids how to pray, or to read the word to them. But it's time we see our kids as the number one job we have, and to see everything else as a distraction.

My kids got his jar from Sunday school

It is a neat little idea to help teach our kids to pray.

Let them think of something they want to pray for and put it in the jar.

Every day get them out and pray for them together.

Take them out as each prayer is answered!

From our new place

Well we are completely moved in to our new house! We have been here about a month now, and have just gotten internet yesterday. The builders had cut the undergroud cable and it took all this time to get the cable company here to fix it! So I have missed you guys! I caught up on a few blogs this morning. And also got to watch a beautiful gotcha day video! :) We have been really busy here and I can't wait to get some catch up blog posts written..hopefully coming soon..but for now I gotta go! Just wanted to say that "No, I didn't fall off the face of the earth." And that I'm excited to get back into the blogger world!
