Holiday Home

We did it! We actually put our tree up before Thanksgiving! For now we are calling it our Thanksgiving tree.

This is the first year that it was up this early. And I think next year we will go back to our usual tradition of putting it up after Thanksgiving....  Right now we have a weird combo of fall decorations and Christmas stuff. But it's kind of fun.

And it's definitly cozy. As I write this post the snow is falling outside and the tree is lit. :) It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Three months Thankful

This past Tuesday marks three months since we were officially licensed.

Three months of getting up every day thinking "this may be the day". Three months of excitement mixed with nervous feelings. High emotions mixed with low emotions. It feels like an eternity. I guess we have technically been waiting ever since we started the process but it felt different in the beginning. The day we were through with all the paperwork and training, the day we really began waiting, it changed. It was real. Any moment we could get the call. Any moment. That means every day I'm making sure my phone is on me at all times. Trying to be prepared....and dreaming about that moment.

Lots of dreaming.

What will life be like as foster parents and as adoptive parents? Will we get a boy or girl? Will we get an infant or a toddler? Oh my how I dream. And I pinterest. :) I have plans to make my own baby food, have pinned multiple cribs and baby items.... sigh.

Waiting is hard. At the same time I'm counting this time as a gift. It's a very exciting time in our lives. Its a time I had once only dreamed about. Now its my story.

And I am thankful.

Free Seeds of Praise Download!

If you have never heard of Seeds Family Worship you are missing out on something great. We love them here in our house. These cds are actually Bible verses being sung! I believe they are intended for children but even the adults love them in our house!  There is no better pick me up in the morning the singing some of His word. My point is I came across a blog post the other day talking about a great deal they have going on right now. Until Thanksgiving you can get a free download of Seeds of Praise vol 3!! This morning I finally got around to downloading it and thought I would share the link with you guys. Check it out! You will love it!!

I am in no way associated with this company. Just love their stuff and thought I would share the great deal with you guys!!!

Celebrate

Look what my hubby brought home the other day....

You can't really tell in the picture, but it's a mini bottle. Just enough for hubby and I to make a little toast when we get our first foster or adoptive placement! :) We don't drink alcohol so we thought this would be appropriate to have on hand for the big day!

One more thing in our home that reminds me about this journey we are on. I like to think of them as my "by faith" items. I believe that God has called us for this. Our high chair, the clothes of different sizes put away and now this little bottle of celebratory cider are just little steps we have taken in faith that one day soon there will be more children in our home.

 Were waiting for you baby!!

Prepared for me

1 Corinthians 2:9 KJVA

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

I don't usually blog on Sunday, but I wanted to share this verse that touched my heart this morning.  He has such wonderful things prepared for me!

Compassion for the Philippines

I'm sure you have heard about how the strongest storm ever recorded hit the Philippines. Nearly half a million people are now without homes. And 10,000 or more feared dead. This is hard to read about. Hard to see the images going around. Now that I have kids I cannot bear to think about how many of those were children. How many moms saw their child being washed out with the waves? How many fathers found them and clutched them to their chests? When there is such tragedy and sorrow that our minds cannot even comprehend it what do we do? We pray. Will you join us to pray for the Philippines? For those who lost loved ones especially those who are facing the greatest loss, the loss of a child.  And another way you can help is to Support Compassion International. If you Donate to the disaster relief fund you can help provide emergency food and water, temporary shelters, personal items, cooking utensils, trauma counseling and spiritual support and much more. Check out this page for info on how you can help.
